DIY Dollar Store Beach Baking Set for Creative Play

Round up these baking supplies at the dollar store before your next beach trip. Beach “baking” is such a fun and creative activity that will promote imaginative play!

Before you head to the beach for your next vacation, you are going to want to make a stop at the dollar store.  Now, if you are renting a beach house or taking your camper to the beach, make sure you check out our list of beach house dollar store must-haves. After that, take a look at our top picks for baby and kid beach gear. Once you’re finished planning out your grocery list, meal plans and other beach particulars, it’s time to make sure that you have some fun beach toys packed for the kids. My kids love to spend hours upon hours playing in the beach sand.

Dollar Tree Baking Supplies

Before we headed down to the Outer Banks this year, I was cruising the aisles at Dollar Tree and had an idea… I was thinking about how much my kids loved REAL baking and how many times they had pretended to make a variety of food concoctions while playing on the beach. I decided to buy REAL baking tools to put together a “beach baking kit” for them to play with!

Baking Supplies

Baking Sheet
Muffin Tin
Measuring Cups
Measuring Spoons
Ice Scoop
Spatula
Cookie Cutters
Salt & Pepper Shakers
Basket with Handles
Bowls

* I also grabbed a bag of shells for decorating their “cakes!” I got our bag at a farmer’s market we stopped at on the way to our campground.  Dollar Tree usually has bags of shells!

Pretty Seashells

I put together a beach baking set for each kid and let me tell you – they. were. PSYCHED!  Not only were they super excited with their baking kits, these baking tools kept them happy and occupied on the beach for hours!  They made all sorts of “recipes” and Landon was even kind enough to whip up a batch of gluten-free pancakes for Bob.  LOL!

Playing with Sand

I definitely recommend putting together a kit like this before your next beach vacation.  You can make up a kit for each kid or make up one kit for the kids to share, that’s up to you. I put together two identical kits for $9/each.  After that trip, I paid $6 for the awesome bag of shells.  I wasn’t thinking about shells when I was at the dollar store or I would have picked up a bag or two there.

Have fun!
