Easy Crock Pot Mulled Cider Recipe
I love cider.
Let me say that again: I LOVE CIDER! Cider, oh, cider. Apple-y goodness that I just cannot seem to get enough of. When I was pregnant with Landon, much like with Lily, I craved all things apple. Apple pie, apple cake, apple ice cream, apple donuts, apple slices and yes, APPLE CIDER.
When I was 38 weeks pregnant Lily’s Pre-K class took a field trip to a local apple orchard. I came home with 2 gallons of apple cider, 1 apple pie, 1 cup of APPLE CIDER SLUSHIE (WHAT?!) and enough apples to make 2 large crock pots of apple sauce.
You get the idea.
So now that fall has arrived and it’s actually appropriate and socially acceptable to be guzzling this cider-y goodness. Last year I knew I wanted it on the beverage menu for our Thanksgiving dinner. On Thanksgiving there is almost always cold cider in the fridge, but I love the idea of warm cider mulling away.
I started to look up mulled cider recipes on Pinterest. I found many, many recipes for mulled cider, warm cider, hot cider, crock pot cider. Some seemed pretty easy, some were more complicated.
I need easy.
So I stepped away from the pages of recipes and I went bare bones. I dumped my gallon of cider (bought at ALDI – delicious and like HALF the price of the brand we used to buy) into the slow cooker. Then I added 1 TSP ground cloves and 3 whole cinnamon sticks. We let the cider MULL (heat up and simmer) for a couple of hours, stirring it every so often.
In summary, you need:
1 gallon cider
3 cinnamon sticks
1 TSP ground cloves or 10 whole cloves
We enjoyed this cider piping hot and topped the crock pot off with more cider as needed.
