We love to host friends and family at our house year round, but the festivities always ramp up every Fall. From “Friendsgiving” type dinners to the big New Year’s Eve party, we are well-versed in how to throw a party! I’m a big fan of planning my dinner event out a couple week’s in advance and preparing as many things as possible ahead of time. I find that the more food and decor that I can prepare before the big day, the more relaxed I am and the more I am able to enjoy our time with friends and family. Plus – let’s face it: prepping for a party is TIRING. It’s so nice to spread some of that work out over a few days and not end up exhausted when your party finally arrives.
When it comes to our holiday gatherings, Thanksgiving in particular, I love to prep the following recipes several days in advance. It feels great to check them off my list ahead of time!
This simple pumpkin dip is easy to make, tastes delicious AND contributes to your party decor!
I spend an entire day the week before Thanksgiving baking dozens of loaves of pumpkin bread. This recipe belonged to my grandmother and it is delicious. My family loves to eat it with cream cheese on top. It freezes wonderfully, so feel free to make a few batches. You can pull these out of the freezer all winter long to enjoy.
Finally, I make up at least one slow cooker batch of homemade applesauce every year. This usually happens in September or October and we freeze smaller containers that can be pulled out for dinners as needed.
