How to Ship Snacks (and More) to Your Disney Resort

If you’re heading to Walt Disney World, chances are good that you’re either flying or driving (and luggage storage is almost always at a premium). We always drive to Disney and even though we have decent trunk space AND a carrier on the back, after baby gear and clothing are packed, space is very limited.

We stop in Orlando and pick up our groceries for the week at Walmart or another grocery store.

This year I decided to try shipping some snacks and drinks for the kids to our resort. We were staying at Bay Lake Tower at the Contemporary and I knew that shipping the snacks would cut down on things we had to lug from PA. It would be nice to have the snacks arrive just as we got to town and whatever wasn’t consumed during our week at WDW could be enjoyed on the drive home and then for school snacks.  We would have room to take the leftover snacks home because we would have gained space taken up on the way down by other food, baby supplies, etc that got used up during our trip.  You can ship packages to most Disney Resorts!

What kind of stuff can you ship to a Disney Resort?  Things like non-perishable food and drink items, toiletries, household supplies, baby supplies, etc.

What companies will ship to a Disney Resort?  Though many companies will ship to WDW, I highly recommend using companies with very very predictable shipping schedules.  You need to ensure that your package arrives just before or just after you check-in.  Of course, Amazon Prime is a great option.

Will all Disney Resorts accept packages?  Yes.  However.  Some resorts (those considered Convention Resorts that have an on-site Business Center) charge a package handling fee.  The fee goes up according to weight.  We didn’t realize this and stayed at, yep, a Convention Resort (Contemporary) and got dinged a $10 package fee thanks to our very heavy box of juice boxes and GoGo Squeez.  Oops!

What should you include on a package label that is being shipped to a Disney Resort?  Be sure to include the following information right on your shipping label: resort shipping address, full name of guest that your reservation is under, check-in date, cell phone number

Here’s what our shipping label looked like from Amazon:

Disney’s Contemporary Resort
4600 N World Dr
HOLD FOR GUEST: Robert Weaver Arrives 2/14/15 #4419XXXXXXXXX
Lake Buena Vista, FL 32830
United States
Phone: 555-XXX-5555

We picked up our package the night after we arrived with no issue (minus that pesky $10 package fee).  We had received a phone call earlier in the day from the hotel letting us know that our package had arrived.

  1. Thanks so much for this amazing tip. I really wouldn’t have thought of this. We are flying in June and I was trying to figure out the best way to avoid buying tons of snacks when we get there!

  2. We used gardengrocer.com for grocery delivery to our resort in March. While they did charge a delivery fee, prices for our selected groceries were minimally higher than at home. As a bonus, resort personel delivered our groceries to our room and put cold stuff in the fridge for us.

  3. This is such an awesome idea! I love having healthy options when traveling so I typically end up packing things in a suitcase. I never even thought of shipping ahead.

  4. Just tried it, Amazon says it is arriving on Friday, we arrive on Saturday… I just had a hard time fitting in the HOLD FOR GUEST name, date, and confirmation number… We’ll see what happens!!!

    • I don’t see why you couldn’t do that! The only reason that I used Amazon was b/c I have Prime so I could send a big box for “free.”
