Great trip today!
We originally had this planned out for one transaction, but a couple stores were out of product so we had to re-work our scenario a little bit. This ended up being 2 transactions (detailed below) and we never did find the Theraflu Pocket Packs – none of the stores had gotten them in yet.
Here is the CVS coupon policy. I suggest printing this policy and taking it to the store with you!
:: What’s the point of this? Each week we head to CVS to spend as LITTLE money out of pocket as possible- while generating as many ECBs that we can! Read my CVS 101 post to learn all about CVS and Extra Care Bucks.
Entering the store this week we had:
$15.57 ECBs
We bought:
Transaction #1:
Total before discounts:
(1) Irish Spring Body Wash @ $2.99 (Get $2 ECBs WYB 1 – Limit 1)
(2) CVS Brand Wipes (Travel Packs) @ $.99 each
(10) Purex 3-in-1 Laundry Sheets @ $3.99 each

$12.57 ECBs

Total out-of-pocket that we have paid: $39.38
Total ECBs generated: $365
Total value to out of pocket savings ratio: 96%
coupons will not print
Hi Diana – there are no printable coupons on this post – I used all newspaper insert coupons. :)
You’ll have it down in no time! And thanks!! :)
How did you calculate the Total value to out of pocket savings ratio? I am interested in keeping track of my own purchases but my mind can’t think right now on how to figured it out! Thanks for you’re help!
Hey Leah! I take the total that I have spent out of pocket and divide it by the total retail value of the products. That way the ECBs are accounted for (in my OOP total) since I put them towards the payment.
Goodness…I knew it was simple but I’m battling a teething 18 month old. I guess my mind is else where. I’m putting my data in excel which I’m sure your probably are too. I guess the percentage threw me off today. Got it!
Total Value of Purchases: $21.96
Total Out of Pocket: $14.96
Total ECB Generated: $14.49
Total value to out of pocket savings ratio: 68.12%
Not bad for my first “planned” trip to CVS!
if you use manufactured coupons, does it throw this data off a little?
That’s a fantastic trip – let alone an AWESOME first trip!! I don’t think the coupons throw your percent off b/c they just lower your out of pocket spending, which you want. That’s what will get you the higher percentage when you calculate your savings.
Way to go!
